Rotate the text box to any angle

There are few options available for rotating the text box to any angle and are discussed below.
a. Rotate to any angle with no degree level precision
Click the rotation handle and drag in the direction that you want to rotate to any angle with no degree level precision.
b. Manually rotate with 15 degrees precision
Press and hold the CTRL key. Click the rotation handle and drag in the direction that you want to rotate with 15 degrees precision.
c. Specifying an exact rotation
Select the text box. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Rotate and click More Rotate Options. In the Size and Properties dialog box, enter a value in the Rotation box.

Rotate text box 90 degrees to the left or right

You can rotate a text box in increments of 90 degrees to the left or right. Perform the following steps to rotate text box 90 degrees to the left or right.
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Rotate.
3. Do one of the following:

• Click Rotate Right 90° to rotate the text box 90 degrees to the right. On clicking the Rotate Right 90° command again will rotate the text box 90 degrees to the right. 
• Click Rotate Left 90° to rotate the text box 90 degrees to the left. On clicking the Rotate Left 90° command again will rotate the text box 90 degrees to the left.

Change the shape of the text box to another shape

By default, text box is rectangular or square shaped depending on how you draw the text box. You may change the shape of the text box by performing the following steps:
1. Click the text box to select it.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click Edit Shape, point to Change Shape and click to select any shape.

Flip a text box

To flip a text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Rotate.
3. Do one of the following:

• Click Flip Vertical to flip the text box vertically. 
• Click Flip Horizontal to flip the text box horizontally.

Align text boxes

To align text boxes, you need to have more than one text box. Perform the following steps to align text boxes:
1. Click to select the text boxes (To select multiple text boxes, click the first text box. Press and hold the CTRL key. Click other text boxes).
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Arrange group, click Align.
3. Do one of the following:

• Click Align Left to align the edge of the text boxes to the left.
• Click Align Center to align the text boxes vertically centered.
• Click Align Right to align the edge of the text boxes to the right.
• Click Align Top to align the top edge of the text boxes.
• Click Align Middle to align the text boxes horizontally centered.
• Click Align Bottom to align the bottom edges of the text boxes.

Remove shape effect from the text box

To remove shape effect from the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click the text box to select it.
2. On the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command and do one of the following:

• To remove the preset effect, point to Preset and click None under No Presets. 
• To remove shadow, point to Shadow and click No Shadow. 
• To remove reflection, point to Reflection and click No Reflection. 
• To remove glow, point to Glow and click No Glow. 
• To remove soft edges, point to Soft Edges and click No Soft Edges. 
• To remove an edge, point to Bevel and click No Bevel. 
• To remove 3-D rotation, point to 3-D Rotation and click No Rotation.

Add a custom shadow to the text box

To add custom shadow to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Shadow and click Shadow Options.
3. In the Format Shape dialog box, in the Shadow tab, make changes.
4. Click Close.

Add a custom 3-D rotation to the text box

To add custom 3-D rotation to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to 3-D Rotation and click 3-D Rotation Options.
3. Make changes in the 3-D Rotation tab in the Format Shape dialog box.
4. Click Close.

Add custom 3-D effects to the text box

To add custom 3-D effects to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Preset or Bevel and click 3-D Options.
3. From the Format Shape dialog box, click the 3-D Format tab from the left pane and make the changes.
4. Click Close.

Remove the 3-D effect from the text box

To remove the 3-D effect from the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Preset and click No Presets or point to Bevel and click No Bevel.

Add a 3-D effect to a text box

To add 3-D effect to a text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Preset and point to the presets or point to Bevel and point to a bevel option. Live preview of the style appears to the selected text box.
You may also apply both the preset and bevel effect to the text box.
3. Click to apply the 3-D effect to the text box.

Remove the preset effect from the text box

To remove the preset effect from the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Preset and click No Presets.

Add a preset effect to the text box

To add a preset effect to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command. Point to Preset and point to the presets. Live preview of the style appears to the selected text box.
3. Click to apply the preset effect to the text box.

Add or change a shape effect to the text box

To add or change shape effect to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click the text box to select it.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Effects command and do one of the following: To add or change the preset effect, point to Preset and click an option. To customize the built-in effect, click 3-D Options and make the changes.

• To add or change shadow, point to Shadow and click an option. To customize the built-in shadow effect, click Shadow Options and make the changes. 
• To add or change reflection, point to Reflection and click an option. 
• To add or change glow, point to Glow and click an option. To customize the glow colors, click More Glow Colors and make the changes. 
• To add or change soft edges, point to Soft Edges and click an option. 
• To add or change an edge, point to Bevel and click an option. To customize the built-in bevel effect, click 3-D Options and make the changes. 
• To add or change 3-D rotation, point to 3-D Rotation and click an option. To customize the rotation, click 3-D Rotation Options and make the changes.

Remove shape fill from the text box

To remove a solid color, gradient fill, texture, or picture from the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the arrow in the Shape Fill command and click No Fill.

Apply a custom gradient fill to the text box

To apply a custom gradient fill to the text box, perform the following steps: 1. Right-click the text box and click Format Shape… 2. In the Format Shape dialog box, click the Fill tab from the left pane. 3. In the right pane, click the Gradient fill option. 4. Click the Preset colors dropdown box, click to select the gradient fill (please note that you will be changing the options for the gradient fill that you selected). 5. Make changes in the Type, Direction, and Gradient stops. 6. Click Close.

Apply gradient fill to the text box

To apply gradient fill to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the shape.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the arrow in the Shape Fill command, point to Gradient and make a selection.

For more options with gradient fill, perform steps 1 and 2 from above and perform the following steps:
1. Click More Gradients to open the Format Shape dialog box.
2. Click the Fill tab from the left pane. In the right pane, click the Gradient fill.
3. Click the Preset colors dropdown box and click to make a selection.
4. Click Close.

Apply a texture fill to the text box

To apply texture fill to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the text box and click Format Shape…
2. In the Format Shape dialog box, click the Fill tab from the left pane.
3. In the right pane, click the Picture or texture fill option.
4. Click the Texture dropdown box and click to make a selection.
5. Click Close.

Apply solid fill color to the text box

To apply solid fill color to the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the text box and click Format Shape…
2. In the Format Shape dialog box, click the Fill tab from the left pane.
3. In the right pane, click Solid fill.
4. Click the Color drop down box and select a color. (For more colors, click More Colors… and make a selection from the Colors dialog box and click OK.
5. Click Close.

Change the border style for the text box

To change the border style for the text box, perform the following steps:
1. Click to select the text box.
2. Under Drawing Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click Shape Outline. Point to Dashes and make a selection. For custom style, click More Lines and make the changes from the Format Shape dialog box.
