Scope of a name in Excel 2007

All names have a scope. A scope defines a boundary till which the name has access. The scope for a name can be local (accessible from within the worksheet) or global (accessible from any worksheet in the workbook).
  • When creating a name from the Name box or Create from Selection command, the scope is set to global.
  • When creating a name from the New Name dialog box, you can specify the scope to be local or global
