Enter text in a cell in Excel 2007

Text entries in a cell serve as headings for rows or columns, data that is the text form. For example, the headings can be Employee Name, Employee ID, and Date of Joining. Data in the text form can be John. E. Hastings for Employee Name.
To enter text in a cell, click the cell and start typing the text.

Things to know:
  • If a data entry in a cell has characters and numbers then the data is considered as text. For example: Employee 1, AU23.
  • Text is left-aligned by default.
  • A cell can hold a maximum of 32,000 characters.
