By default, Excel 2007 saves workbooks in .xlsx format and earlier versions of Excel do not open the workbook that is in this format. Two options are available to open an Excel 2007 workbook in an earlier version of Excel:
a. In Excel 2007, save the workbook in Excel 97-2003 format.
b. Download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats and install it on the computer that has the earlier version of Excel.
