How to edit data in a cell in Excel 2007?

To edit data in a cell, click to select the cell that need to edit. You can edit data directly from the cell or from the Formula bar.

Edit data directly from the cell:
Double click the cell. The mouse cursor changes to Text Select. Use the following techniques to edit the data:
  • Use the arrow keys or mouse to move around the data
  • If the data is single line, press the HOME key to move to the beginning of the data. Press the END key to move to the end of the data.
  • If the data is multiline, press the CTRL + HOME keys to move to the beginning of the data. Press the CTRL + END keys to move to the end of the data.
  • To select the data, press and hold the SHIFT key and press the arrow keys. To select data from the current location to the beginning or end, press SHIFT + HOME or SHIFT + END. For multiline data press CTRL + SHIFT + HOME or CTRL + SHIFT + END.
  • To delete selected data, press the DELETE key.
  • To delete the data that is on the left, press BACKSPACE key.
  • To delete the data that is on the right, press DELETE key.
  • To insert data, place the mouse cursor at the exact location and enter the data. For example in AC, to insert data B between A and C, place the mouse cursor between A and C and type B.

Edit data from the Formula bar
When you click a cell, the data is present in the Formula bar as well. Edit the contents as per your needs. One more use is that, if a cell has a formula and you need to edit the formula then the formula is present in the Formula bar. Edit the formula and press ENTER key.
